Dokolica II: Sweet Doing Nothing

£4,000.00

Dokolica II: Sweet Doing Nothing continues Hrvoje's exploration of stillness, celebrating rest not as idleness but as a source of creativity, clarity and renewal. Inspired by the tradition of reclining figures in European painting, the work invites us to rediscover the quiet joy of simply being.

The reclining figure exists beyond narrative or identity. Surrounded by richly patterned textiles and warm colour, the composition creates an atmosphere of comfort, contemplation and ease. Rather than striving towards action or achievement, the painting embraces rest as a space where imagination, reflection and inner balance naturally emerge.

As a companion to Dokolica (A Moment of Repose), this work expands Hrvoje's belief that stillness is an essential part of the creative process. In a culture that often measures success through constant productivity, it reminds us that some of our most meaningful insights arrive when we slow down, pause and allow ourselves to simply exist.

Ultimately, Dokolica II: Sweet Doing Nothing is a meditation on presence, inviting us to find beauty in unhurried moments and to recognise that rest is not the opposite of creativity, but one of its greatest sources.

Collection

Dokolica II: Sweet Doing Nothing forms part of The Art of Stillness Collection, exploring presence, contemplation and the quiet beauty of everyday life. Rather than focusing on dramatic moments, these paintings celebrate stillness, inviting viewers to slow down, observe more deeply and reconnect with themselves through atmosphere, light and emotion.

Whether set within landscapes, interiors or intimate figurative scenes, the collection explores the restorative power of silence, reflection and mindful attention. Together, the works remind us that some of life's most profound experiences unfold not through constant movement, but through simply learning to be present.
