Exploring Identity, Connection & Unspoken Sensuality
Hrvoje Majer is a contemporary Croatian artist whose work explores identity, vulnerability and the emotional landscapes that shape the human experience. Through figurative, abstract and landscape painting, he creates works that invite reflection rather than certainty, encouraging each viewer to discover their own meaning.
Educated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb and Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, Majer combines a classical foundation with a contemporary visual language. Drawing inspiration from psychology, mythology, memory and lived experience, his paintings explore themes of transformation, intimacy and self-discovery through symbolism, colour and atmosphere.
Rather than telling fixed stories, each painting begins with a question. Whether depicting symbolic figures, moments of stillness or expressive landscapes, his work invites viewers to pause, reflect and reconnect with emotions that often go unnoticed in everyday life.
His practice is organised into three evolving collections: Portrait Archetypes, exploring universal aspects of the human condition; The Art of Becoming, following the journey of healing and personal transformation; and The Art of Stillness, celebrating contemplation, presence and quiet emotional renewal.
Working from his studio in Zagreb, Croatia, Hrvoje continues to create original paintings while mentoring emerging artists through his private art school, sharing a lifelong passion for creativity, observation and human connection.
